Blakey to celebrate 60th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Verland E. Blakey of Windom, Minn., will be honored at an open house to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at American Lutheran Church, Windom, Minn., Sunday, August 23 from 2-4:30 p.m.

The celebration is being hosted by their children and families: Gordon and Shirley Blakey of Aurora, Colo.; Verla and Vincent Williams of Iowa City, Iowa; Sharon and Dalen Asche of Bloomington, and Pam and Bob Bergan of North Mankato. One son, Averland, is deceased. They have 15 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Verland Blakey, son of George and Lottie (Kephart) Blakey, and Agnes Roe, daughter of Albert and Mina (Hoganson) Roe were united in marriage August 22, 1927, at Jackson. The young couple farmed in the Jackson area until 1943 when they moved to their present farm home northeast of Windom.

All relatives, neighbors, and friends are invited to attend. No invitations are being sent. The couple requests no gifts.
