"Marshals: Verland, 92, and Agnes, 84, BLAKEY."

Marshals: Verland, 92, and Agnes, 84, BLAKEY
"We have fun being with friends and especially with children and grandchildren." -- The Blakeys

ORIGINAL HOMETOWNS:
Both Jackson.

OCCUPATIONS:
Verland, retired farmer,
Agnes, housewife.

CHILDREN:
Gordon Blakey of Brighton, Colo.; Verla Williams of Iowa City, Iowa; Sharon Asche of Bloomington; and Pamella Bergan of North Mankato.
Grandchildren: 15.
Great-grandchildren: 13.

HOW & WHERE DID YOU MEET?
On a Sunday evening in Jackson, Verland was with his friend Joe and I was with Joe's girlfriend. We were out for a walk when the boys came along and asked if we wanted to go for a ride, neither of us knew Verland. We went for a ride out in the country and when a mud puddle appeared Joe swerved to miss it. We flew around in the back seat. We both scrambled back to our corners and for maybe the first time in my life I couldn't think of anything to say. We did say goodnight. Later when I asked who was with Joe, I was told Verland Blakey. But if you were out for a ride it couldn't have been him, he is afraid of women.

HOW DO YOU KEEP THE FUN & ROMANCE IN YOUR MARRIAGE?
After 66 years of togetherness, it doesn't take much romance. We have fun being with friends and especially with children and grandchildren. The roof hasn't raised yet when we have been together, but it still might.
